Devotional Portraits
My visual artworks are made by cutting voids into black tulle, and then aligning layers of the tulle onto a white ground to create an image.
The portraits are a way of honoring people who have been important to me: saints, artists, thinkers, and other remarkable people. But the work also makes them present in my space in a real way, like a door to another realm where we can encounter one another.
About the work
Pricing
Each work is handmade using a pattern that is individually designed, based upon a photograph. The works are therefore multiples, in principle, although each edition is cut and aligned by hand, so there are inevitable variations making each work unique.
Base Price: $500
To acquire a work:
Payment plans available: 5 months / $100 — 10 months / $50
Each work is designed and made by hand. Current production times are 4-6 WEEKS + shipping time.

There is an additional fee for commissions of new work to cover the cost of creating a pattern. For commissions, I will work with you to select a photograph and present a mock-up of the design for approval before beginning fabrication of the work.

2. Choose to receive the work Unframed (+$0) or Framed (+$100)
Unframed (+$0)
Mounted on 140 lb. acid-free watercolor paper.
Paper Size: 24 x 18 inches.
The work, when mounted on paper, is approximately 3/16" (5mm) deep. When choosing a frame for the work, use two 8-ply mat boards or standard 4-ply mat boards with additional spacers to accommodate the depth of the work. Recommended frame size is 24x20 inches with a 2" mat border.

The frame is a natural wood veneer frame with a double mat and glass glazing.

Works usually take 4-6 weeks to fabricate and ship. Standard shipping is USPS ground, which, from Alaska, takes 7-14 days to arrive. Expedited shipping through UPS 2nd Day Air. Inquire for shipping to other countries.
